There was a noticeable changing of the tides over the past year in my life. Break ups, new avenues, new friends, basically “new” everything. One fact remained constant. Fabrics, textures, clothes, how they fit and how it made me feel putting them on has always fascinated me.
In my younger days, I would style my sister or anyone who was willing to play “fashion week” with me. From rolled up towels on the head as headgear to curtains and bedsheets as garments, in my head, it was always high fashion, even though I did not know what that concept meant at the time.
Now, many moons away from my parent’s living room where I staged my styling gigs, photoshoots and catwalks, like a woman in a pregnant-like state, I’m giving birth to my first body of work “ALTER EGOS”.’
From the moment I pasted the first reference piece on my mood board to fitting my models with the beautiful garments and seeing them through the lens of the photographer’s camera I knew it was time for my “baby” to be born.
Alter Egos, a vibrant, energetic and beautiful depiction of clothes in motion brings designer Onesimo Bam’s Japanese inspired garments to life in a jaw-dropping backdrop. Celebrating the male body in all its vulnerable, subtle, fascinating and at times strong form.
